대학 과제_Margin Call_영화감상문 (영문)
First of all, I was surprised with the casting of the movie. There were so many famous actors in the movie which interested me and made me enjoy. I was glad to hear the term, VaR, which I learned from our class. And because I am interested in risk management position, the movie made me really concentrate while watching.
Similar with Inside Job, this movie was related to financial fraud or anti-ethical attitude of business in finance sector. They have brought Occupy in Wall Street in which the members of the occupation are worried about concentration of wealth to the top 20 percent. What Tuld did might have been helpful to the firm in terms of the firm’s survival. But what about the effect to the world caused by liquidating the worthless paper? People who bought it would suffer severe damage. And all their money invested in the worthless paper is going right into the top 20 percent, working in Wall Street. What I want to ask is, why would Tuld choose such extreme decision? Was it behavioral, or rational? The risk analysis was not perfect. Executive members weren’t 100 percent sure that the catastrophe that the analysis showed would occur. Did he simply not want to take risk at all?
