Introduction
Women soccer has had an unusual genesis in the United States. It got off to a fairly late start in this country. In Europe Women leagues existed as far back as 1930 and international competitions date back to the 1950s. In the United States, however, due to male-oriented and tradition-bound institutions, organized women soccer did not take root until the late 1970s.
The film which we are going to introduce is the story of a 15-year-old girl named Gracie Bowen who is crazy about soccer. She overcomes the loss of her brother and fights for the right of all women to play competitive soccer at a time when girls’ soccer didn’t exist.
One’s self can not be formed by itself. Self-development can get accomplished through interaction between inner factors like actual self and external factors such as others’ behaviors, prejudices and attitudes toward oneself.

1. Actual vs. Ideal vs. Ought Self
(1) Actual Self
In the movie we can see that the actual self of Gracie is a talented soccer player as her brother who has the potential to compete with men.
(2) Ideal Self
