엽기적인 그녀‘ is a melodrama, but 'My sassy girl' changed that mood. 'My sassy girl' is more like romantic comedy. 'My sassy girl' tried to remake Korean version. They finally failed that develop their own aura.
Cliched scripts, melodramatic scenes, elaborate song and dance routines, they just imitate original one, even worse than Korean version. Between remake and imitate have a big difference, but 'My sassy girl' don't know about that.
1. Season
‘My sassy girl’ changed the season. The reason why they changed the season it is the romantic comedy. They targeted on Christmas love story. The movie’s hero and heroines meet in accident and suddenly fall in love. It is big difference between Korean version and Remake one. (Korean one’s hero didn’t love heroines at first.)
The movie expected Christmas miracle (Like ‘love actually’ or ‘sweet Christmas’), so they changed season.
2. Place
Main actors and actresses job different, so the main place also changed. 엽기적인 그녀’s main actors are university student. They just express 20’s love. My sassy girl’s main actor is job hunter, and main actress is rich. So they change the campus to New York city.
3. Bar
There are a lot of drinking scenes in the movie because it is a kind of Korean campus culture. However, it isn't fit the remake one. Korean version drinking naturally but U.S. version is little bit ridiculous. We didn't understand why the actress drink too much(U.S. one).
The bar seems like barrelhouse or Izakaya in ‘엽기적인 그녀’, but there is luxury bar in ‘My sassy girl'.
