⑴ What is biofilter?
- Technology processed gas pollutants by biological methods, immobilized on porous carrier by the metabolic activity of microorganisms decompose into harmless substances
- Depending on the configuration and operation of the device, it can classify as Biofilter, Biological Trikling Filter, Bioscrubber and Air Lift Bioreactor
Example of use of Biofiltration
(a) Biofilter, (b) Biological Trikling Filter, (c) Bioscrubber, (d) Air Lift Bioreactor
⑵ Principle of BIOFILTER
- BIOFILTATION applied to biofilter is decomposition method from various stinking material and VOCs including harmful emissions to harmless substance using Biological processes of microbial metabolism
- First, Organisms should be selected, these organisms use stinking material and various chemicals for nutrient, next, odorants enter the filter, so meet layer of organism and water, then odorants are eliminated by dissolution, organism adsorption, and decomposition. Organisms use odorants as nutrient for generation of energy and breeding. In this process, Byproduct is released
