KAL’s return rate is close to a stunning -20%, and can be considered as being in trouble. But when compared to fellow airline companies, KAL stands in the middle. Which means KAL is doing a horrible job as a company, but not so bad as a major airline.
Rate of Return on Total asset : Rate of return on Total Assets measures the company’s success in using assets to earn profits. KAL’s return(-0.0939) is lower than Asiana’s(-0.0016), but higher than Jeju Air’s(-0.2152).
KAL’s return is near -10%. They also have the worst net income of the three, but having also the largest asset of the three, its rate of return stands in the middle. In this case as well, it can be said that KAL is not doing a good job, but not so bad as an airline.
Rate of Return on Common Stockholders' Equity : Rate of return on common stockholder’s equity shows the relationship between net income and common stockholders’ investment. It is the amount earned for every won invested. KAL’s return(-0.5378) is worse than that of Asiana’s (-0.2404) but higher than Jeju Air’s(-1.8742).
Again, KAL is not doing a very good job here. Its return closing on -54% means for every won invested, one loses more than half of its value. Here as well all three companies show negative numbers, and KAL stays in the middle.
Earnings per Share of Common Stock : Earning per share of common stock measures company’s net income earned for each share of its outstanding common stock. KAL’s return(-26,989 \) is lower than both Asiana’s(-1297\) and Jeju Air’s(-2652\).
Neither of the three companies have an attractive stock to buy. The earnings per share of stock is negative. Especially KAL’s(-26,989\) is the worst of the three companies, making it the least attractive of the three.
