• 60 subjects saw a one-minute-length video clip and then answered four questions about events occurring in the clip. The experimental group (n = 30) got the question based on the premise that there was a bicycle. On the other hand, the control group (n = 30) got a question with no prompt. Three days later, we asked if there was a bicycle beside the bench to both groups. The purpose of this experiment was to implant a false memory of bicycle in the video clip when gave the question that has a prompt. Although the results didn’t show what we predicted exactly, it presented prompts affect the creation of false memory.
Introduction
False memories are the recollection of an event, or the details of an event, that never actually occur . They are constructed by combining actual memories with the content of suggestions received from others. It tends to occur when people are prompted to imagine missing details. The more people imagine an event, the more likely they are to subsequently believe it really happened. During the process, individuals may forget the source of the information.
