In Korea, English has been and still is an important part in education. Earlier Koreans focused mostly on the grammatical and academic approach in English but now they are trying to focus on the more practical aspects of English. They realized that English can be learned to be use in a more interacting way in the real world than just an academic studies to get you better grades. But despite the increasing demands of communicative language teaching (CLT) of L2 learners in Korea, there have been difficulties in adopting effective ways of teaching. According to an article, Defeng Li says “a study of a group of South Korean secondary school English teachers' perceived difficulties in adopting CLT reveals that the difficulties have their source in the differences between the underlying educational theories of South Korea and those of Western countries.”(667) The solution to this matter, for Korea, was to invite native English speaking people as teachers in schools of South Korea. Kim Chang Ho states in an article that the best way to learn English is to learn from foreign English speaking teachers because the learners can be exposed to more English speaking situations and be more English friendly (39-40). This tendency was first introduced in the Universities then to private schools and is now spread out to many schools starting from elementary schools to high schools.
