George David : George David is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
of United Technologies Corporation.

David was elected UTC’s President in 1992 and Chief Executive Officer in 1994.
He joined UTC’s Otis Elevator subsidiary in 1975 and became its President in 1986.
To improve productivity David terminated thousand workers, invested on R&D and made UTC's
different  scholar program.

But invest on R&D was no use. So he invest on employee train.
David said that most gains in the plant come from better processes, not better machines. ⇨ Big Success ! - quadrupled earnings per share, outperform GE.

Employee Scholar Program gives workers up to three paid hours off a week to study and pays up front for the entire cost of books, tuition, and fees for any education program.

The program covers every employee.
And for each degree earned, employees get up to $10,000 in UTC stock or stock options.

In 1989, David met Ito, joint venture partner and would be David's full time adviser.   Example - otis's elevators high defect rate (40% recall)

One recent result of ACE trims $300 off the cost of each elevator.

It strengthen employees' allegiance to UTC.
