Southwest Airlines Co. is an American low-cost airline based in Dallas, Texas. Southwest Airlines traces its roots to the March 15, 1967 incorporation of Air Southwest Co. by Rollin King and Herb Kelleher to provide service within the state of Texas. Southwest is the largest airline in the United States, based upon domestic passengers carried, as of June 30, 2010.Southwest operates more than 3,400 flights a day, as of March 2011, utilizing a fleet of 552 aircraft.
Our group analyzes the financial state of Southwest Airlines by the annual report of 2010. We find 10 important numbers and 5 ratios by analyzing the finance reports. In these reports, we focus on the income statement. We will track down the changes by comparing the income statement from 2009 and 2010. Also we use the financial information in Reuter to find more detailed information.
To catch up the cash flow, we start from total revenue to Net income. And we check the characteristic section of airlines firm like ‘fuel and oil’ and ‘air craft rental’.
